FAQ's

What are the SFI ratings for Sparco driving suits?

All Sparco Nomex driving suits are SFI rated. The exact rating is given in the catalog description.

What is the usable life of a SA rated helmet?

The Snell Foundation, which provides the "SA" rating for your helmet, recommends a replacement every five years. Many sanctioning bodies and marque-specific car clubs have different rules regarding the usable life of helmets. Always check with them to see what is acceptable for the event or series in which you plan to participate.

Do you ship to countries outside the U.S.?

Yes we do, with some restrictions. Some products we sell cannot be shipped out of the U.S. This includes Halon fire extinguishers and some other products containing chemicals. Our policy is to require a bank-to-bank wire transfer payment in advance on all orders from any customer who resides outside the US. Please check our store policies section for more information.

If I order a helmet from AAR Racing Gear today, how long will it take to arrive? Is overnight shipping available, and if so, what does it cost?

Click on Store Policies to see the typical ground-shipment delivery times for all areas within the U.S. OG Racing ships by all of the delivery methods offered by UPS. If your order for an in-stock item is received no later than 2:00pm Eastern time, we can usually get it to you the following day. There is a premium for expedited service, which will vary with the size and weight of the item being shipped, and the part of the country it is going to.

Where is the Snell sticker located on my new helmet?

Gently lift the padding on the inside of the helmet back to locate the Snell rating sticker. The sticker is permanently affixed to the inside of the helmet - DO NOT attempt to remove or relocate this sticker.

My feet are size 10 1/2. What Sparco Sock size should I get?

Sparco socks come in small (fits 6-8), medium (fits 8-9 1/2), Large (9 1/2-11), and x large, (fits 11-13). When preparing for a weekend of racing, it's a good idea to have at least two pairs of socks. That way you will always have a dry pair when needed.

What is the difference between a "pull-up" or "pull-down" harness belt? Does it refer only to the lap belt or shoulder harnesses?

The terms "pull-up" and "pull-down" refer to the method the belts are adjusted and apply only to the lap belts of a harness system. With "pull-up" belts, the adjustment tabs are pulled inwards, towards the occupant. With the "pull-down" belts, the tabs are pulled outwards, away from the occupant. "Pull-up" belts are generally used in cockpits with extremely tight confines, like a Formula car where adjustment space is minimal. Larger cockpits, such as with most touring cars, will use the "pull-down" variety.

Do you rent helmets?

AAR Race Gear offers rental helmets for 10-day periods. Prices are $35 for a full-face helmet, and $25 for an open-face helmet. Please call us at 1-800-934-9112 for more details.

I recently purchased a Nomex suit. I know you have to have them dry cleaned - are there any special procedures or processes that the dry cleaner must follow?

The dry cleaner should follow the cleaning instructions sewn into the Nomex Suit.
